Tesla Europe gets 2X faster supercharger installations with folding V4 units

Tesla has officially initiated the European rollout of its innovative Folding Unit Superchargers, utilizing pre-assembled V4 architecture to dramatically accelerate charging infrastructure deployment. These new stations deliver up to 500 kW of power while significantly cutting installation times and logistical overhead across the continent.

First Folding Unit Superchargers in Europe / Tesla

The Folding Unit Supercharger is a factory pre-assembled station built on a heavy-duty concrete base equipped with an industrial hinge system. This mechanism allows the charging hardware to exist in two distinct configurations: completely folded for streamlined transport and unfolded for rapid onsite deployment. Each functional unit integrates a central 1.2-MW V4 power electronics cabinet paired directly with eight individual Supercharging dispensers.

Logistics and Deployment Speed

By shifting to a modular, pre-assembled design, Tesla can transport two complete charging units on a single standard delivery truck. This enhanced shipping density allows local installation crews to deploy the hardware twice as fast compared to traditional, component-by-component construction. Consequently, Tesla has managed to reduce overall site installation costs by more than 20%, successfully optimizing its infrastructure supply chain.

The introduction of these units in Europe marks the official rollout of Tesla’s 500 kW peak power charging per stall. To support the broader electric vehicle market, the V4 dispensers feature extended cables designed to easily reach the charging ports of non-Tesla vehicles. Following the initial site installation in June 2026, widespread deployment across major European highway corridors and rest stops is expected to scale rapidly by the third quarter.
