Tesla has introduced a special promotion for new vehicle buyers in Texas, dramatically reducing the cost of home charging.

Under this new offer, customers who take delivery of a new Tesla by December 31, 2024, and enroll in the Tesla Electric Fixed Plan can receive unlimited overnight home charging for just $5 per month, a significant discount from the regular price of $15 per month.

The Tesla Electric Fixed Plan comes with several attractive features. It requires a 12-month contract term and provides fixed per-kWh rates for selling energy back to the grid.

Customers enrolled in the Virtual Power Plant program receive a $400 annual credit per Powerwall. The plan also includes discounted electricity rates during off-peak hours, and customers can manage their energy systems conveniently through the Tesla app.

As an alternative, Tesla also offers the Electric Dynamic Plan, which is structured differently. This plan charges $25 per month for unlimited EV charging and operates on a more flexible month-to-month contract basis.

It offers a smaller annual credit of $120 per Powerwall enrolled in the VPP program, features variable rates based on peak demand, and allows customers to sell energy back to the grid at 90% of the market price.

This promotion enhances Tesla’s existing energy services in Texas, where the company has been operating Tesla Electric since 2022 after receiving ERCOT approval.

The initiative reflects Tesla’s broader strategy to develop virtual power plants, combining multiple Powerwall installations to create large-scale distributed energy resources that can help manage grid demand during peak periods.
