Tesla has achieved another significant milestone in its energy storage business, announcing the installation of 750,000 Powerwall units worldwide. This achievement, shared by the Tesla Energy account on X (formerly Twitter), marks a rapid acceleration in the company’s home and commercial battery deployment.

The pace of installations has been impressive, with Tesla reaching 600,000 Powerwall installations just this February. At the current rate, the company is likely to surpass one million installations sometime in 2025.

This milestone follows closely on the heels of a production breakthrough at Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada, where the Powerwall team recently manufactured over 500 units in a single shift—a new record for the facility.

The surge in installations coincides with the launch of Tesla’s next-generation Powerwall 3. Introduced in the United States in February 2024, the new model has since been rolled out in Canada, the UK, and Germany. However, the majority of the current installations are believed to be the preceding Powerwall 2 model.

Tesla’s energy division has been showing strong growth across various markets:

  • In Europe alone, Tesla surpassed 1GWh of Powerwall installations in November 2023.
  • Globally, Tesla Energy deployed a record 9.4GWh across its Powerwall and grid-scale Megapack storage systems.
  • The first half of 2024 saw 13.5GWh installed, nearly matching the entire 2023 deployment of 14.7GWh.

To support this growth, Tesla has intensified its marketing efforts, highlighting the Powerwall’s potential for energy savings when paired with solar installations, as well as its weatherproof design and ability to provide backup power during outages.

As Tesla continues to ramp up production and expand its energy storage offerings, the company appears well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the residential and commercial battery storage market.
