Tesla Japan Celebrates 60,000th Supercharger Milestone

Tesla Japan recently achieved a significant milestone by installing its 60,000th Supercharger in the country. This achievement was celebrated by Tesla executives on the social media platform X.

According to Tesla Japan’s official X account, the 60,000th Supercharger is located in Enshu Morimachi, Shizuoka Prefecture. This site is particularly noteworthy as it also hosts Japan’s first V4 Supercharger stalls and was previously the location of Tesla Japan’s 600th Supercharger.

To mark this milestone, Tesla installed special Supercharger V4 stalls at the location. The 600th Supercharger features a faceplate with origami prints, while the 60,000th Supercharger boasts a sleek silver faceplate. These unique designs make these Superchargers among the most visually striking in the world.

Max de Zegher, Tesla’s Director of Charging, shared a photo on X of the Tesla Japan Supercharger team posing in front of the commemorative stalls. He highlighted the strategic importance of the location, which connects Nagoya and Tokyo.

“Great location with the fastest connection between Nagoya and Tokyo, accessible from both sides of the highway. The Japan team is awesome!” de Zegher wrote in his post.

The official Tesla Charging account emphasized the accelerating growth of the Supercharger Network in Japan over recent years. A graph shared by Tesla shows that the majority of the network’s expansion in Japan has occurred in the last four years, suggesting that complete coverage of the country may not be far off.

Commenting on this growth, de Zegher noted the collaborative effort behind each Supercharger launch. “Although not as mind-blowing as catching a rocket with chopsticks… for the teams behind it, every Supercharger opening feels like a little miracle of collaboration with permitting jurisdictions, site hosts & utilities. The new routes that they open up bring happiness to traveling families, making it all so worth it!” he posted on X.

This milestone underscores Tesla’s commitment to expanding its charging infrastructure in Japan, supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
