Tesla is rolling out software update 2025.2.8. This update merges the latest FSD versions with Tesla’s newest production features. It impacts both FSD and non-FSD vehicles.
FSD Vehicles Receive New Features
For the first time, Tesla’s FSD is based on the 2025 software branch. This means FSD vehicles now get the latest Tesla features.
Update 2025.2 brings:
- Hands-Free Trunk and Frunk Support for Android
- Rear Cross-Traffic Chime
- Activation of in-vehicle radar for Model Y
- Third-Party Charger Preconditioning (North America only)
- Trailer Profiles for Cybertruck
- Cybertruck wiper improvements
FSD itself remains at version 12.6.4 for HW3 vehicles and V13.2.8 for HW4. There are no major updates, just possible bug fixes.
Is This the New Base FSD Version?
It’s unclear if FSD V12.5.4.2 is being replaced as the base version. Tesla can package different FSD versions in the same update. It’s possible this version will roll out to non-FSD vehicles later.
Subscribe to Get the Latest FSD
Tesla doesn’t allow rolling back software versions. If a vehicle was already on a 2025.2 update, it stays on FSD 12.5.4.2. But anyone subscribing to FSD now will get the latest version.
FSD updates usually lag behind other Tesla features. This update helps close the gap. If Tesla makes FSD V12.6 and V13.2 the standard versions in future updates, it will improve performance for many users.
Tesla’s next big update might be the Spring Update. Last year, it introduced many new features, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
