Tesla Speeds Up Model Y Production at Giga Texas

Tesla is increasing the new Model Y production at its Giga Texas facility.

Recent Delivery Updates

Tesla customers have shared on social media that they’ve received estimated delivery dates for their Model Y orders.

This is surprising because Tesla had initially listed March as the expected delivery month. But, some customers are now being told their vehicles could arrive as early as this month.

Giga Texas Flyover Details

Drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer, who regularly monitors Giga Texas, captured images showing a growing number of new Model Y units at the facility.

The vehicles seem ready to ship to Tesla delivery centers. Some Model Ys were covered in camouflage, sparking guesses they could be pre-production units of the upcoming Model Y Performance.

Tesla has said the new Model Y Performance and a seven-seat version will come out later this year.

Other Giga Texas Updates

The flyover also showed new equipment being moved into the facility.

This equipment had been stored on the far west side of the complex for months. The images suggest it might be modular cooling cabinets.

The increased activity at Giga Texas shows that Tesla is pushing to meet the demand for the new Model Y.
