Tesla Insurance May Offer FSD Discounts and Reward Safe Driving

Tesla Insurance, currently available in a handful of U.S. states, is about to get even better for Full Self-Driving (FSD) owners and subscribers.

The program, which integrates seamlessly into the Tesla app, already lets users manage documents, billing, payments, and claims all in one place.

Now, it looks like Tesla is planning to reward FSD users with potential discounts.

How Tesla Insurance Works

Tesla Insurance offers different coverage levels and even lets you insure non-Tesla vehicles alongside your Tesla.

In most states (except California), your Safety Score determines your insurance rate.

The safer you drive, the higher your score, and the lower your premium. Rates can change monthly, so safer driving can save you money over time.

FSD Discount on the Horizon

A recent decompile of Tesla’s app (version 4.41.0) by Tesla App iOS revealed hints of a new feature.

Currently, the Safety Score tracks how much you use FSD or Autopilot versus manual driving. Soon, it might also factor in the percentage of time you spend using FSD.

Driving more on FSD could boost your Safety Score, potentially lowering your insurance rate.

Why This Matters

This change could push more people to use FSD. Think about it: if you save $50 a month on insurance while paying $99 a month for FSD, the discount could almost cover the cost.

For many, that makes FSD a lot more tempting.

Beyond saving money, more FSD users mean Tesla gets better real-world data to improve the system, which could make roads safer for everyone.

What’s Next?

While this feature isn’t live yet, it’s an exciting possibility. Tesla Insurance is already a game-changer for Tesla owners, and adding FSD discounts could make it even better.

Here’s hoping Tesla expands the program to more states and countries soon.
