Tesla Cybertruck Will Get Adaptive Headlights, Company Confirms

Tesla has confirmed the Cybertruck will have Adaptive Headlights. Many people questioned if the vehicle would support this feature. Also called Matrix Headlights, they adjust brightness based on nearby traffic to improve visibility.

Tesla is adding Adaptive Headlights to the new Model Y starting in March. The headlights use external cameras to spot other vehicles. Instead of turning off high beams completely, certain pixels dim. This keeps the road bright for the Tesla driver while reducing glare for others.

Here’s how it works:

The feature has been available in markets like Europe, but Tesla worked with U.S. regulators to bring it stateside. The company has already confirmed it will expand the feature to other vehicles.

While Tesla executives didn’t specifically name the Cybertruck when discussing Adaptive Headlights, many expected it to get the feature due to its popularity and advanced design. Now, it’s official.

Lars Moravy, Tesla’s VP of Vehicle Engineering, confirmed on X that the Cybertruck will have Adaptive Headlights. This means the Cybertruck has the hardware needed for Matrix Headlights. The feature will be rolled out later.

For now, Tesla is starting with the new Model Y and the feature will then go to other models. This includes the older Model Y, Model 3, and later the Cybertruck. After that, it will come to the Model S and Model X.

The rollout focuses on mass-market vehicles first.
