The Tesla Cybertruck has received the highest safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The electric pickup earned a five-star overall safety score after undergoing the agency’s crash tests.
The NHTSA tested the Cybertruck in frontal and side crashes and checked its rollover risk. It got five stars in frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover category. These scores added up to a five-star overall rating.
For the frontal crash rating, the NHTSA looked at results for both the driver and front passenger. The side crash rating considered side barrier and side pole tests, as well as crash performance for front and rear seats. The Cybertruck’s rollover risk was measured at 12.4%, earning it four stars in that category.
The NHTSA released photos of the Cybertruck’s crash tests, showing the vehicle’s performance during the evaluations.
This is the first time the NHTSA has released crash test ratings for the Cybertruck since its launch in November 2023.
Most vehicles are tested when they are released, but the Cybertruck was not initially tested by the NHTSA.
Tesla had conducted its own internal crash tests to ensure compliance with safety standards.
