Trump Welcomed by Tesla Convoy, Picks Model S Plaid

A lineup of Tesla vehicles rolled up to the White House today – Model S, Cybertruck, and Model Y in tow. It followed former President Donald Trump’s announcement last night that he’d buy one, backing Tesla and Elon Musk after weeks of vocal support.

Trump Checks Out the Options

Trump didn’t just wave from the steps – he got hands-on. Spent time poking around the cars, climbing inside, weighing his choices. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stepped in to clarify he’s paying full price – no deals here. Elon Musk tagged along, ready to guide Trump through the lineup.

Trump Lands on Deep-Red Model S Plaid

After eyeing the spread, Trump zeroed in on the Model S Plaid. Pointed at the deep red one and laid it out:

“The one I like is that one (Model S). And I want that same color. I’m going to give [Tesla] a check. I don’t want a discount.”

Musk had brought two Model S options, Deep Red and Deep Blue Metallic, figuring Trump might bite but unsure on the shade. Guess he called it right with the red.

Trump’s Take on Tesla and Musk

Trump’s never shy about praising Musk – calls him “a genius,” “brilliant,” the works. Today, he turned that to Tesla, touting its American chops.

“Tesla’s a great company; They’re American cars, it’s American made. He employs thousands of people. He has the most modern plants in the world,”

he said.

He didn’t stop there – nodded to the drivers too.

“I know people that have these cars; It blows them away. They love them.”

And the Cybertruck? That wild design caught his eye.

“In terms of imagination, and I think I have a pretty great imagination, who else but this guy would design this and everybody on the road is looking at it. As soon as I saw it, I said, ‘That’s the coolest design.’ You gotta give him (Elon) credit.”
