Tesla, Uber Partner to Offer $2,000 Combined Incentive for EV Drivers
Tesla and Uber have unveiled a new joint incentive program offering a combined $2,000 in benefits for eligible Uber drivers who purchase a new Model 3 or Model Y. The program splits the incentive into two parts: Tesla will provide $1,000 in Tesla Credits at delivery, while Uber will contribute $1,000 in cash after drivers complete 100 trips.
According to Tesla’s newly launched program webpage, the Tesla Credits can be applied toward various services including Supercharging, future vehicle purchases, service appointments, or select items from the Tesla Shop. To qualify, participants must be active Uber drivers in good standing.
The initiative targets Tesla’s most affordable and current vehicles—the Model 3 and Model Y—which are particularly well-suited for ride-sharing operations. However, Tesla has specified certain restrictions on the credits: they cannot be transferred, redeemed for cash, used for subscription upgrades, gift cards, or alcohol purchases.
This collaboration builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies. Earlier this year, Uber had already offered a similar $2,000 incentive for Tesla vehicles. Their partnership deepened in September when Tesla integrated Uber’s platform directly into their vehicles’ navigation system, enhancing convenience for drivers.
The program aligns with Uber’s broader strategy to encourage EV adoption among its drivers, as evidenced by similar discount arrangements with other manufacturers, including Ford for leased electric vehicles. First reported by EV Universe, this latest incentive program could prove particularly attractive to ride-share drivers, with the $1,000 in Tesla Credits offering substantial Supercharging value, while the additional $1,000 cash bonus after completing 100 rides could help offset vehicle payments or serve as a welcome bonus for dedicated drivers.
