Tesla shares new photos of the Model S and X Signature Edition

Tesla posted fresh pictures of its limited Model S and Model X Signature Edition. These images give observers a clear look at the final versions of the automaker’s original flagship cars right before tomorrow’s delivery event. The company plans to broadcast the handover live from the Fremont Factory starting at 5 p.m. PT on May 20. Fans and reservation holders across the globe can watch the stream directly on X to see the cars in motion.

The manufacturer officially ended standard production for its high-end sedans and SUVs at the California plant. Now, factory space previously used for these vehicles is getting converted to build Optimus humanoid robots and autonomous systems.

The Signature Edition run serves as a goodbye for these nameplates, and the entire production is capped at exactly 350 units. The automaker will build 250 Model S sedans and 100 Model X SUVs for this final release. Instead of opening sales to the general public, the company sent purchase links through private emails to select longtime owners.

The final run ties directly back to the original 2012 Signature series cars that helped the brand grow early on, bringing the original production cycle to a close. Company filings indicate this factory change will help them scale their next generation of technology faster.

Exclusive colors and custom cabin details

Every car in this final batch comes painted in an exclusive Garnet Red color that you cannot get on any other model. The exterior features gold T badges on the front grille area along with a special Signature emblem on the back. Meanwhile, designers added black mirror caps to both models, and the Model S gets door handles painted to match the red body. Inside, the cabin features bright white materials covered in Alcantara with gold piping running along the seats.

Buyers get numbered dash plates that identify each car’s exact place in the production run, like 1 of 250.

Then the development team included custom puddle lights that project a unique pattern on the ground along with a special animated screen sequence when you open the doors. Both models feature gold Plaid seat badges to match the exterior trim.

Upgraded hardware and premium pricing

These collector models are based on the high-performance Plaid trim, and they include physical upgrades over the standard versions. Both cars feature carbon-ceramic brakes equipped with bright gold calipers to match the exterior badging.

The Model S rides on 21-inch wheels, and the larger Model X comes fitted with massive 22-inch rims. Tesla bundles all these vehicles with a Luxe Package that includes Full Self-Driving (Supervised) capabilities and lifetime Supercharging access.

Owners receive a custom Signature Edition key fob along with several years of prepaid premium service. Currently, pricing starts at roughly 159,420 dollars before delivery fees. This price tag makes these final versions about 30,000 to 35,000 dollars more expensive than a regular Plaid car. But buyers clearly accepted the premium, and the entire allocation is completely sold out with all deposits collected. The performance remains the same as standard Plaid models, hitting top speeds with incredible acceleration.

Event details and resale restrictions

The delivery celebration was originally scheduled to take place on May 12. Management postponed the gathering just days before it was supposed to happen, and they later confirmed the new May 20 date without giving a public reason. Afterward, invited guests had to register again to get new QR code tickets for the Fremont facility.

Attendees can bring one guest who is at least 18 years old, and a select group of buyers will drive their new cars home directly from the factory floor. The purchase contract includes a strict one-year waiting period before buyers can sell their vehicles to anyone else. Anyone who violates this rule faces a 50,000 dollar penalty. And the company limited every buyer to just one car. Soon, tomorrow’s livestream will give fans a chance to watch these historic vehicles roll out for the last time. The event represents the end of an era for the electric vehicle maker. The broadcast will likely focus heavily on the legacy of these two cars that helped build the company into what it is today.
