Tesla offers 2,000 Supercharger miles for gas car swap

Tesla is giving drivers an extra reason to switch to electric. Anyone who trades in a gas or hybrid car for a new Tesla will get 2,000 free Supercharger miles.

To get these free miles, you must turn in your gas or hybrid vehicle. The offer works for all new Tesla models. Electric vehicle trade-ins do not count. Owners of pre-owned Teslas or any used Teslas aren’t eligible for this offer. This deal started at the end of October.

Notably, Tesla recently announced that lease prices would increase by up to $80 per month starting November 4, 2025, effectively reversing much of a previous 23% lease rate reduction.

How the promotion works

If you trade in a gas or hybrid for a new Tesla, you get 2,000 miles of free Supercharging. You can use these miles at any Tesla Supercharger station for up to two years from your delivery date. Any unused miles will expire after that time. You still need to pay for any idle or congestion fees, so move your car after charging.

Is it a big savings?

Tesla charges by the kilowatt-hour, but these 2,000 miles serve as a basic credit. But the worth of this offer depends on your Tesla model and local energy rates, but here’s a simple example, if you drive a Model Y that gets about 3.5 miles per kWh, then your credits equal roughly 570 kWh. At an average cost of $0.40 per kWh in the U.S., your free miles are worth about $228.

Also, Tesla delivered fewer cars in 2024 than in the previous year. But, the Supercharger network remains a selling point. New owners may want to try it out, and after they do, they’re likely to keep coming back for more charging, even after the free miles are used up. Tesla continues to pitch the world’s largest fast-charging network in hopes of attracting new EV drivers.

In summary, if you have a gas or hybrid car and want a Tesla, this offer provides some free road trips.
