Tesla brings 3D Supercharger Site Maps to mobile app with sharper live availability

Tesla has released its three-dimensional Supercharger site maps inside the official phone app through version 4.61.0, giving drivers a clear look at parking layouts and real-time stall openings before they plug in. The software brings a feature that was once restricted to car screens directly to mobile devices across the network.

Phone update adds station maps

To view the layout, drivers simply open the charging map inside app version 4.61.0 and zoom into any supported location. Then the regular street map smoothly changes into a detailed station footprint, displaying charger cabinets, driving lanes, and parking spots on the screen. Drivers can inspect each stall individually to verify if it is open, taken, or out of order before turning into the driveway.

Earlier, Tesla limited these three-dimensional views to vehicle touchscreens after testing the software in an end-of-year pilot in 2025. But that setup worked only on newer cars with specific computer processors, leaving drivers with older equipment without the detailed graphics. Now that the company has introduced the graphics to the phone app, anyone with the updated build can check site layouts regardless of what year their car was built.

Easier stops on the road

This mobile access lets drivers plan their charging stops from home or check conditions when they stop for food along their route. In fact, passengers can look ahead at the next charging plaza to locate open plugs, saving time and keeping the driver focused on traffic. Drivers of older Model S and Model X sedans also pick up identical visual information on their hand devices, removing the hardware gap between different model years.

Tesla has updated its backend counter to better track third-party electric vehicles that plug in with adapters at its stations. Sometimes a vehicle from another manufacturer parks slightly off-center to reach the charging cord, and the new visual system accounts for those blocked spaces on the map. So when motorists pull into a busy lot, they run into fewer surprises and can head straight to an open cord.
