Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) visualization system is poised for a significant upgrade. The system will soon spot and display around 15 new vehicle types. The evidence comes from code found inside Tesla’s software, Tesla hacker green, who uncovered this development noted that while the feature isn’t yet active.
More vehicles on screen
New vehicle types include: ambulance, train, fire truck, garbage truck, school bus, European semi-truck, golf cart, scooter, skateboard, stroller, street sweeper, three-wheeler, trailer, tram, and wheelchair and some Christmas assets.

FSD’s visual system is getting a big upgrade too. Tesla is swapping its old graphics engine for Unreal Engine. So, owners can expect better 3D graphics with smoother, clearer images. Tests of early versions of this new system already show improvements in vehicle icons and lighting.
In addition, recent FSD updates improved how the car handles emergency vehicles and school buses. The system can now use sound from microphones to pick up sirens.
Tesla uses cameras and neural networks. It does not use the same laser or radar technology as some rivals do. Updates in FSD version 13 made visualizations smoother and improved 3D detection of objects.
The new vehicle icons are important for Tesla’s push into new countries. Some regions, like India, have three-wheeled vehicles not common in the U.S. or Europe. The new assets help Tesla get ready for those markets. Tesla wants to get FSD approved in places like China, Europe, and Japan next year. Some European countries, such as the Netherlands, may be first for new FSD features.
These improvements help drivers see on the screen what the car “notices” on the road. More detailed models can make it easier for people to trust what the computer is doing. But experts say that better graphics don’t fix deeper safety concerns. U.S. regulators are still reviewing Tesla’s self-driving claims and looking at cases when the tech failed.
Tesla’s main goal is full autonomy where the car drives itself. For now, these new features are early steps. As Tesla rolls out updates, the FSD system will recognize more situations and give better feedback on the car’s display.
