Ford has started selling certified used cars on Amazon and buyers in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas can use this service as of now.
Buyers can see detailed listings for Ford Blue Advantage cars from nearby dealers. These listings come with inspection results, history information, and the full price. If you want to buy a car, you can handle much of the paperwork online. You can arrange financing and choose a time to pick up the car at the dealer’s location.
Ford Blue Advantage uses three types of certified plans:
- Gold Certified: Cars under 6 y/o, less than 80,000 miles, 172 checks, and a 12-month warranty with roadside help.
- EV Certified: Electric cars up to 6 y/o, and less than 80,000 miles, 127 checks with the same warranty as Gold.
- Blue Certified: Cars up to 10 y/o, and less than 150,000 miles, 139 checks, and a shorter warranty.
All cars come with a 14-day or 1,000-mile buyback promise, so buyers have time to return the car if it doesn’t fit their needs. Shoppers can also see service history and a condition report before buying.
Dealers stay In control
Amazon handles the website and sends customers to local Ford dealers. Dealers still set prices, deliver vehicles, and stay in charge of service and support. A buyer picks up the car at the dealership, not through Amazon delivery. Ford says about 160 to 180 dealers want to join soon, with at least 20 already in the program.
People are used to shopping online, even for big items. Ford’s move allows more buyers to see dealer cars without leaving home. As Fan Jin, Amazon Autos’ global leader, put it, “By working with exceptional Ford dealers who share our commitment to customer service, we’re creating a car-buying experience that combines trusted vehicle certification with the convenience Amazon is known for.” Ford says its dealers keep their key role in the sale, even though Amazon brings more exposure online.
Ford started with three cities, but plans to add more. Only certified used cars are available right now, but Ford could let buyers shop for new cars this way in the future if the test goes well. Anyone interested can start shopping at amazon.com/FordCPO
