Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinting at drone production: Morgan Stanley
On Monday, September 30, 2024, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas suggested that Tesla CEO Elon Musk may be dropping hints about the company’s interest in drone production. In a recent note, Jonas wrote,
“Is it just me, or are you seeing more ‘breadcrumbs’ from Tesla’s CEO that could potentially connect Tesla with aviation? Tesla sits at the intersection of robotics and AI. Cars (81% of TSLA revenue…and falling) are just one expression.”
Jonas points to several instances where Musk has shown interest in expanding Tesla’s reach into other modes of transportation beyond automobiles. The analyst believes that if Tesla were to venture into drones and aircraft production, the company’s stock could potentially reach $1,000 per share.
This speculation comes as Tesla continues to diversify its portfolio, leveraging its expertise in robotics and artificial intelligence. While cars currently account for the majority of Tesla’s revenue, Jonas’s comments suggest that the company might be looking to apply its technological prowess to the aviation sector.
It’s important to note that as of now, these are speculations based on Jonas’s interpretation of Musk’s comments and Tesla’s trajectory. The company has not made any official announcements regarding plans to enter the drone or aircraft market.
