Tesla Plans More Paint Colors for New Model Y in North America

The new Model Y in North America now comes in four colors: Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Ultra Red, and Quicksilver. But many people want more options.

Customers keep asking about Deep Blue Metallic, which was a popular color choice.

A recent talk between Tesla Owners Club Silicon Valley and Tesla’s engineers gave us some answers.

When New Colors Will Come

New paint choices will come after the Launch Series ends in May. Tesla already sells Glacier Blue in Asia-Pacific, but North American buyers still have limited options.

Deep Blue Metallic and black remain popular choices, though you can’t order a black Model Y right now.

Why There’s a Delay

Tesla’s engineers said they’re working on new colors. The delay comes from production scaling.

Making more cars takes time, and so does increasing paint production. Tesla wants to get production running smoothly before adding more colors.

Which Colors to Expect

The engineers dropped a hint: looking at Tesla’s website will show which colors might come next.

This means the new colors will likely be ones Tesla already uses on other models or in other places.

We might see Glacier Blue from Asia, plus Deep Blue Metallic and Black from the older Model Y.

These new colors should arrive once Tesla makes enough cars. They might show up with the updated Model Y Performance model.

If you want a color that’s not sold in North America yet, waiting a few months might make sense.
