Tesla’s miniature version of optimus humanoid robot has become an unexpected hot commodity. The Tesla Bot Action Figure, priced at just $40, sold out within 24 hours of its Saturday release, with resellers now commanding prices up to a staggering $1,300 on eBay.
The seven-inch action figure represents a scaled-down version of Tesla’s Optimus robot project, which CEO Elon Musk first announced in 2021.
While the full-sized, 5-foot-8-inch humanoid assistant remains in development, collectors and Tesla enthusiasts have eagerly embraced this detailed miniature version.
Tesla markets the figure as “Your mini autonomous assistant and humanoid friend,” crafting it as a 1:10 scale model with impressive attention to detail.
The collectible features over 40 individual parts and 20 points of articulation, designed to accurately replicate the movements of Tesla’s Gen 2 humanoid robot. Each figure comes complete with a charging stand and a “CyberHammer” accessory.
For disappointed fans who missed the initial release, options are currently limited to the resale market, where prices have skyrocketed to between $130 and $1,500.
Tesla has yet to announce when the figure will be restocked, and delivery timelines for existing orders remain unclear.
The toy’s release comes as Tesla prepares for significant developments in its actual robotics program. During a July earnings call, Musk revealed plans to begin limited production of the real Optimus robot in early 2025, initially for internal testing.
The company aims to deploy “several thousand” robots in Tesla factories by the end of that year, with commercial availability planned for 2026 with the release of a second-generation model.
Tesla has not responded to requests for comment about the action figure’s availability or future production plans.
